Veterans Cycling Time Trials Association

The Veterans Time Trials Association (VTTA) is for anyone who has an interest in cycle racing, and specifically in time trialling with a target audience aged 40 and over.At the time of writing they have over 3000 paid members, located across 16 regional groups throughout the UK.

The VTTA promotes over 100 events, 8 national championships, 3 season long competitions and various other competitions and trophies at regional level.

The VTTA uses a “standards” (handicapping) system to enable like for like comparison of time trialists of all age groups.

After seeing XNcreations’s successful build and delivery of www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk, the VTTA approached XNcreations with a brief on their vision for a new web based system.Helping the VTTA embrace technology, the solution had to provide a system that could:

• Manage the growing user base and enable new/existing members to join/renew online and accept payment,
• Manage the various different user roles across the 16 regional group and National Executive Committee,
• Implement the complex algorithm to calculate “standards” tables i.e. the handicapped equivalent time for a given rider,
• Store and present large amounts of historical records and enable quick and easy searching,
• Provide a fully integrated content management system (CMS) to enable the easy updating of content without developer involvement,
• Integrate into third party API’s (CTT) to retrieve content and offer significant time saving features.

Working closely with the National Executive Committee chairman and project manager, Andrew Simpkins, we combined our technical expertise and experience of working within the cycling industry, to fully understand the current limitations and processes within the VTTA to deliver a standout solution which exceeded member expectations.

Delivering a feature rich web based administration and membership system combing an integrated payment solution, the VTTA site brief provided plenty of complex problems for XNcreations to solve.  We designed a simple and intuitive user interface to ensure all members of the VTTA community could relate to the new system.

We are working closely with the VTTA on an ongoing basis and the website continues to grow with the addition of new time saving and value adding features to help increase the membership base and provide an compelling user experience.

We look forward to helping the VTTA raise the profile of time trials for the over for their target audience which continues to build on and offer ongoing labour saving elements to maximise their time.
